Add to a Facebook Page: Page settings vs Business settings
Two paths add someone to a Facebook Page: through the Page itself, or through Business settings.
Is this your situation?
You need to add someone to a Facebook Page and are not sure whether to use Page settings or Business settings. The right path depends on whether the Page is part of a business portfolio.
The short answer
If the Page is part of a business portfolio, access can only be managed from the portfolio in Meta Business Suite. If the Page is not part of a business portfolio, its access levels differ and are managed differently.
Before you start
- Check whether the Page is in a business portfolio Its access levels differ if so.Verify: Whether this Page belongs to a business portfolio.
- Check your own access level You need full access to the Page or the business portfolio to give access.Verify: Your own level of access.
- Check whether the person is already in the business portfolio If not, you can request they be invited and given Page access.Verify: Whether this person is already in the portfolio.
How Facebook handles this
- For a Page in a business portfolio, access can only be managed from the portfolio in Meta Business Suite.
- For a Page not in a business portfolio, access levels are different from those of a Page in a business portfolio.
- Full access to a Page allows a person to manage all Page settings.
- Partial access to a Page allows a person to create content and interact as the Page.
Step by step
- Open Meta Business Suite on desktop To give Page access to someone in the business portfolio, go to Meta Business Suite on a desktop computer.Where: Meta Business SuiteConfirm: You want to see the business portfolio that owns the Page.
- Go to Settings Click Settings in Meta Business Suite to begin giving Page access.Where: Meta Business Suite → SettingsConfirm: You want to see the Settings menu open.
- Select the Page Below Profiles, click Pages and select the Page you want to give access to.Where: Settings → Profiles → PagesConfirm: You want to see the correct Page name selected.
- Find the person to add Below Add People, find and select the person or people to give Page access to.Where: Settings → Pages → Add PeopleConfirm: You want to see the person's name selected in the list.
- Choose the access type Select partial access (business tools only) as the type of access to grant.Where: Settings → Pages → Add People → Access typeConfirm: You want to see the access type you selected highlighted.
- Assign the access Click Assign to complete giving Page access to the person.Where: Settings → Pages → Add People → AssignConfirm: You want to see the person now listed on the Page.If this fails: You want to recheck your own access to the Page or portfolio.
- Invite someone outside the portfolio If the person is not in the business portfolio, you can request that they be invited and given Page access.Where: Settings → PeopleConfirm: You want to see the invitation listed as pending.
Common mistakes
- Assuming Page settings works for a portfolio Page A Page in a business portfolio can only be managed from the portfolio in Meta Business Suite. Why it happens: Access levels differ once a Page is part of a business portfolio.
- Requesting approval from the wrong person Someone with full access to the business portfolio must approve a request to add a person and give them access. Why it happens: You expect the day-to-day manager to be the one who approves the request.Already happened: See how to audit who has access.
- Removing someone from a Page without removing the portfolio Removing someone's access to a Page does not remove them from the business portfolio. Why it happens: You assume removing Page access also removes portfolio membership.

Keeping track of who has access
After you have worked out which settings path to use, the harder part is keeping track of who has access over time. Delvia gives you a single place to track Page and portfolio access as people and roles change.
