Twitch Role Change Won't Save or Wrong Person Stays Assigned
When the Roles Manager doesn't keep your change, here's where to check.
Is this your situation?
You changed a role in the Roles Manager, but the change did not save, or the wrong person is still assigned. You want to know whether the save failed or whether you are looking at the wrong list of role holders.
The short answer
The Roles Manager saves a role only after you check the role from the dropdown and click Save. Only the channel owner can add or remove the Lead Moderator, Editor, and Artist roles. If the person still appears assigned, confirm the save step completed and that you have the right permission to change that role.
What you see, and why
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
| You selected a role but it never appears to apply. | Assigning a role requires searching for the individual, checking the role from the dropdown, and clicking Save. |
| You tried to remove someone from Lead Moderator, Editor, or Artist but the change did not take. | Only the channel owner can add or remove the Lead Moderator, Editor, and Artist roles. |
| A person you removed still shows a role. | To remove a role, click the button next to that role to remove it from the individual. |
