How Twitch handles this
- There are currently six roles that can be assigned to people on a channel.
- Editors can access a channel's dashboard and help creators manage their channel.
- Moderators can warn, time out, or ban users.
- Depending on the role, the individual will get a chat badge to display next to their name.

Common mistakes
- Expecting a Lead Moderator addition to work the same way Only the channel owner can add or remove the Lead Moderator, Editor, and Artist roles. Why it happens: Someone other than the owner tries to make the assignment and it does not take.
- Confusing VIP and moderator status A user can only be either a VIP or a moderator, not both at the same time. Why it happens: The reader tries to add both roles to the same person.
- Using the wrong identifier To assign a role, search for the individual, check the role from the drop down, and click the Save button. Why it happens: A display name does not match what the search expects.Already happened: If the wrong person was added, see removing a moderator.
