How to remove an old agency's access on Facebook
Cut off an agency's lingering access to your Page before it becomes a liability.
Is this your situation?
The short answer
Remove the agency as a partner from your business portfolio. Removing a partner is a different action from removing people in your organization, so check both.
Before you start
- Confirm you have full control Removing a partner requires full control of the business portfolio.Verify: Check your permission level in Settings.
- Find the agency in Partners The partner must be in your business portfolio to be removed.Verify: Check the Partners list for the agency's name.
- Check for individually added people You want to see whether the agency's staff were also added as people.Verify: Check the People list for unfamiliar names.
- Check assets outside the portfolio Pages or ad accounts outside the portfolio use a different process.Verify: Check whether the asset appears in your portfolio settings.
How Facebook handles this
- A partner may be added to your business portfolio to access assets like a Page, Instagram account or ad account.
- Removing a partner from a business portfolio is different from removing someone in your organization.
- To remove someone from a Page not part of your business portfolio, you remove them from the Facebook Page directly.
- To remove someone from an ad account not part of your business portfolio, this is done in Meta Ads Manager.
Step by step
- Open business portfolio settings Go to Settings in Meta Business Suite for your business portfolio.Where: Meta Business Suite → SettingsConfirm: Check that the Settings menu has loaded.
- Open Partners Click Partners in the left menu.Where: Settings → PartnersConfirm: Check the left menu for the Partners option. If this fails: You may not have full control of the business portfolio.
- Locate the agency You want to find the agency's name in the partner list.Where: Settings → PartnersConfirm: Check the list for the agency's business portfolio name.
- Remove the partner Click Remove partner.Where: Partners → agency name → Remove partnerConfirm: Check that the agency no longer appears in the Partners list.
- Open People Click People in the left menu to check for individually added agency staff.Where: Business Portfolio Settings → PeopleConfirm: Check the People list for agency staff names.
- Select a remaining person Click the name of any agency staff member still listed.Where: People → person's nameConfirm: Check that the person's permissions panel opens.
- Remove the person Click Remove and confirm the removal.Where: People → RemoveConfirm: Check that the person no longer appears in the People list.
- Check assets outside the portfolio Confirm there are no leftover Page or ad account roles granted directly outside the portfolio.Where: Meta Ads Manager → ad accountConfirm: Check the Page or ad account role list for the agency's name.
Common mistakes
- Removing the partner but not the people Removing a partner is a different action from removing people added individually. Why it happens: You may not realize the agency added staff separately from the partner link.Already happened: Check the audit access guide to find lingering access.
- Assets outside the business portfolio A Page or ad account not in your portfolio needs its own removal process. Why it happens: You may not notice access granted directly on the Page or ad account.
- No full control available If a user cannot see Partners in the left menu, they may not have full control of the business portfolio. Why it happens: You expect to see Partners but your access level does not show it.

Keeping track of who has access
After you have done this, the app is where you track who still has access to your Page. Delvia keeps that record current once the agency's access is gone.
