How to Remove a Partner From Your Facebook Business Portfolio

Remove a partner's access to your business assets without affecting your team's own permissions.

Is this your situation?

An agency or other partner business still has access to your Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts or ad accounts, and you want it gone. You want to remove the partner itself, not a single person on your team.

The short answer

Go to Partners in your business portfolio's Settings and remove the partner there. You need full control of the business portfolio to do this.

Before you start

  • Confirm you have full control Removing partners requires full control of the business portfolio.Verify: Check your own permission level in Settings.
  • Confirm the partner is in your portfolio The partner must be in your organization's business portfolio to be removed this way.Verify: Check the Partners list for the partner's name.
  • Check for assets outside your portfolio A business asset outside your portfolio is removed through a different process.Verify: Check whether the asset is owned by your business portfolio.

How Facebook handles this

  • A partner may have been added to access your business assets.
  • A partner may also have been added to share their own business assets with your organization.
  • If no one has full control of the portfolio, you can submit a request to get full control.
  • Removing someone from a business asset outside your portfolio uses removing someone from a Facebook Page.

Step by step

  1. Open Meta Business Suite Settings Go to Settings for your business portfolio.Where: Meta Business Suite → SettingsConfirm: Check that the business portfolio shown is the correct one.
  2. Open Partners Click Partners in the left menu.Where: Settings → PartnersConfirm: Check the Partners list for the one you intend to remove. If this fails: You may not have full control of the business portfolio.

  6. Click Remove partner Click Remove partner.Where: Partner details pageConfirm: Check for a prompt asking you to confirm.
  7. Confirm the removal You can remove a partner such as an agency from your business portfolio.Where: Confirmation promptConfirm: Check the Partners list for this partner's name.
  8. Review approvals if needed Another person with full control may need to approve the removal in Requests.Where: Settings → RequestsConfirm: Check Requests for a pending approval.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to remove a person instead of a partner Removing a person in your organization is a different action from removing a partner business. Why it happens: You want the same result and expect one flow to cover both.
  • No one has full control If no one in the organization has full control, removal cannot proceed until this is resolved. Why it happens: You assume someone still holds full control without checking.Already happened: Review who has access to your Page to find who still holds full control.
  • Asset is outside your business portfolio A business asset not in your organization's business portfolio is not removed through this Partners flow. Why it happens: You expect this flow to cover every asset the partner touches.
