How to Edit Someone's Access Instead of Removing Them on Facebook
Edit permissions instead of removing someone to change access without losing their history on the Page.
Is this your situation?
You see everyone's permissions, but the only option you find is to remove users, not edit them. You want to change someone's access level without removing them entirely.
The short answer
You can change someone's permissions for a business portfolio or business asset at any time. Go to Settings in Meta Business Suite, click People, then click Manage next to the person or asset.
Before you start
- Confirm you have full control People with full control of a business portfolio can edit or remove permissions for other people in Meta Business Suite.Verify: Check whether you can see the People option in Settings.
- Confirm the person is in the portfolio The person whose permissions you want to change must be in the business portfolio.Verify: Look for their name listed under People in Settings.
- Check for partner-assigned limits A partner-shared asset limits you to the permissions your partner assigned.Verify: Check the asset's access section for a partner label.
How Facebook handles this
- People with full control of a business portfolio can edit or remove permissions for other people in Meta Business Suite.
- Business assets that can have permissions changed include Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, or ad accounts.
- If a person cannot see the People option in Settings, they may not have full control of the business portfolio.
- If a partner shares a business asset with your organisation, you are limited to the specific permissions that your partner assigned.
Step by step
- Open Settings in Meta Business Suite Go to Settings in Meta Business Suite for your business portfolio.Confirm: Check that the Settings page for your business portfolio has loaded.
- Click People Click People in the left menu of Settings.Confirm: Check the left menu for the People option.
- Check for full control If you cannot see the People option in Settings, you may not have full control of the business portfolio.Confirm: Check whether the People option appears in the left menu.If this fails: Ask someone with full control to make the change instead.
- Find the person The person whose permissions you want to change must be in the business portfolio.Confirm: Check the People list for their name.
- Manage portfolio permissions To change someone's permissions for a business portfolio, click Manage in the Business portfolio access section, make changes, then click Save.Confirm: Check the Permissions list for the change you made.
- Manage asset permissions To change someone's permissions for a business asset, click Manage to the right of the business asset.Confirm: Check that the asset's Manage panel opened.
- Save or remove When changing a business asset permission, you can either make changes and click Save, or click Remove access and confirm.Confirm: Check that your changes were saved.
- Use the Accounts section as an alternative You can also edit someone's permissions to a business asset in the Accounts section in the left menu of Settings.Confirm: Check the Accounts section for the asset and its Manage option.
Common mistakes
- Removing instead of editing Removing a person revokes their access to business assets such as a Facebook Page, Instagram account, or ad account. Why it happens: If you cannot see the People option, you may not have full control of the business portfolio.Already happened: If you already removed someone, see how to add someone to a Facebook Page to re-add them.
- Partner-assigned limits block full editing If a partner shares a business asset with your organisation, you are limited to the permissions your partner assigned. Why it happens: Editable permissions come from what the partner assigned, not from your own portfolio.
- Wrong asset location Assets with permissions you can change include Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, or ad accounts. Why it happens: Looking at the wrong asset type can make the Manage option seem missing.

Keeping track of who has access
After you edit access, Delvia is where you track who holds which permissions across your business portfolio. Keeping that record current makes the next change faster to find and confirm.
