How to Change Someone's Access on a Facebook Page
Update what someone can do on your Page without removing and re-adding them.
Is this your situation?
The short answer
People with full control of a business portfolio can edit or remove permissions for other people in Meta Business Suite. Business assets that can have permissions changed include Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, or ad accounts.
Before you start
- Confirm the person is in the business portfolio The person whose permissions you want to change must be in the business portfolio.Verify: Check the People list in Settings for their name.
- Check your own access level You need full control to edit or remove someone's permissions.Verify: Check your own role in Business portfolio access.
- Check for partner-assigned limits If a partner shares a business asset with your organisation, you are limited to the specific permissions that your partner assigned.Verify: Check whether the asset was shared by a partner.
How Facebook handles this
- People with full control of a business portfolio can edit or remove permissions for other people in Meta Business Suite.
- You can also edit someone's permissions to a business asset in the Accounts section in the left menu of Settings.
- A partner's permission settings may prevent you from giving someone full control of that particular business asset.
- People with full control of a Facebook Page can choose to switch into the Page on Facebook to manage access.
Step by step
- Open business portfolio settings Go to Settings in Meta Business Suite for your business portfolio.Where: Settings → Meta Business SuiteConfirm: Check that your business portfolio name appears in Settings.
- Open People Click People in the left menu of Settings.Where: Settings → PeopleConfirm: Check the People list for the person's name.
- Select the person The person whose permissions you want to change must be in the business portfolio.Where: Settings → PeopleConfirm: Check that their name is listed.
- Change portfolio-level permissions Click Manage in the Business portfolio access section, make changes, then click Save.Where: People → Business portfolio access → ManageConfirm: Check the saved permissions listed next to their name.
- Change asset-level permissions Click Manage to the right of the business asset to change permissions for that asset.Where: People → business asset row → ManageConfirm: Check the asset row for the updated access.
- Save or remove access Make changes and click Save, or click Remove access and confirm.Where: Business portfolio → Business assetsConfirm: Check the panel for a save or removal confirmation. If this fails: You expected to change access but the option is missing.
- Edit from Accounts section instead You can also edit someone's permissions to a business asset in the Accounts section in the left menu of Settings.Where: Settings → AccountsConfirm: Check the Accounts section for the asset and person.
- Review requests to approve changes Someone else with full control of the business portfolio may need to approve the action of giving a partner access to business assets.Where: Settings → RequestsConfirm: Check Requests for a pending approval.
Common mistakes
- Assuming you can override a partner's limits If a partner shares a business asset with your organisation, you are limited to the specific permissions that your partner assigned. Why it happens: You expect the same control you have over your own assets.
- Trying to grant full control on a shared asset A partner's permission settings may prevent you from giving someone full control of that particular business asset. Why it happens: You assume any admin can grant any level of access.Already happened: See how to remove a partner if the restriction no longer works for you.
- Editing the wrong person's record The person whose permissions you want to change must be in the business portfolio. Why it happens: You look for someone before checking whether they accepted the invite.

Keeping track of who has access
Once access levels are set the way you want, Delvia is where you track who holds which permission. Keeping that record current makes the next change easier to find.
