How to Add a Page Admin on LinkedIn When They Can't Be Found
When search finds no match or LinkedIn blocks the add, check the connection and verification conditions first.
Is this your situation?
You search for a member's name in the Add admin field and nothing matches, or LinkedIn refuses to add them. You want to know what LinkedIn requires before a name will appear and an admin can be added.
The short answer
A member can only be added if they are a 1st-, 2nd-, or 3rd-degree connection. Verifying your own account may help resolve add issues.
Before you start
- Connection degree The member must be a 1st-, 2nd-, or 3rd-degree connection to be added.Verify: Check the member's connection degree on their profile.
- Blocks between Page and member A member cannot be added if the Page has blocked them or they have blocked the Page.Verify: Check whether a block exists in either direction.
- Your own super admin status A member must be a super admin to add another admin.Verify: Check your role in the super admin view.
How LinkedIn handles this
- A member can only be added as an admin if they are a 1st-degree, 2nd-degree, or 3rd-degree connection.
- A member cannot be added if the Page has blocked the member or the member has blocked the Page.
- A member cannot be added if their account has been flagged for any violations.
- There may be a limit on how many admins can be added to a LinkedIn Page.

- Select the name Select the admin's name from the list that appears.Confirm: Check the Permissions list for the name you entered.
- Review remaining pending requests Check your admin tools for other pending admin requests.Confirm: Check the pending requests list for outstanding names.
Common mistakes
- Assuming any connection works A member must be a 1st-, 2nd-, or 3rd-degree connection, not a stranger. Why it happens: The requester expects any member to appear regardless of connection distance.
- Overlooking a block A block in either direction between the Page and the member prevents the add.Why it happens: Past interactions are not visible to the person adding admins.
- Ignoring account flags A flagged account cannot be added as an admin. Why it happens: Violation flags are not shown in the search results.Already happened: You requested access and still see no admin role on the Page.
- Reaching the admin limit There may be a limit on how many admins can be added to a LinkedIn Page. Why it happens: You expect to add another admin without checking the current admin count.
