How to add a partner to manage your Instagram

Add another business as a partner to manage your Instagram through Meta. Share your account by their Business Portfolio ID and assign exactly what they can do.

Partner access lets another business — an agency, a consultancy, a sister company — manage your Instagram through their own Meta Business Portfolio. You keep ownership of the account and the portfolio it sits in; they get access by their Portfolio ID, with only the tasks you assign. It is the cleanest way to bring in an outside team, because removal is a single step.

If your situation is actually …

Before you start

  • Your Instagram in your own Business Portfolio

You own the container; the partner only gets access.

  • The partner's Business Portfolio ID

A long numeric ID from their Meta Business settings.

  • Admin access to your portfolio

Required to add partners and assign assets.

Add a partner business

  1. Open Partners

Meta Business settings → Partners, as a portfolio admin.

Where: Meta Business settings → Partners

  2. Add the partner by Portfolio ID

Choose to give a partner access and enter their ID exactly.

  3. Assign the Instagram account and tasks

Share your Instagram and enable only the tasks the partner needs.

  4. Confirm and document

Verify the partner sees the account, and note the engagement and a review date.

If this fails: Instagram in another portfolio

Partner mistakes

  • Letting the partner own your portfolio

A partner should access your container, not own it. If they own it, they control your account.

  • Over-granting tasks

Give the partner exactly what the work needs; widen later if necessary.

Access issues are easier to prevent when roles, owners, and responsibilities are recorded clearly

Most access problems trace back to the same gap — no clear record of who has access, what role they hold, and what should happen when that changes. Delvia helps you keep that record so problems are visible before they become incidents.

Delvia is free on iPhone and Android. Keep a clear record of who has access to your accounts — and what to do when that changes — wherever you are.
