What happened to Admin, Editor, and Moderator roles?
The old named roles were replaced by two kinds of access that work differently.
Is this your situation?
You remember Admin, Editor, and Moderator as Page roles and can't find them anymore. You want to know what replaced them and whether your access changed.
What it is
People can be given Facebook access or task access to help manage a Page. People can now be given Facebook access or task access to help manage a Page. People with Facebook access can switch into the Page and manage it on Facebook or through other Facebook tools. People with task access can't switch into the Page or manage it on Facebook. If a Page is part of a business portfolio, its access levels are different again.
How Facebook handles this
- People with Facebook access can respond to comments and edit or delete existing comments made by the Page.
- People with Facebook access can create, edit and delete events by the Page.
- People with task access can create, manage or delete any content on the Page like posts and Stories.
- People with task access can view Page, content, ad, and metric performance.
- A person with full control Facebook access can give other people access to manage the Page, or remove anyone, including the original grantor.
Side by side
| Access type | Can switch into Page | Typical capability |
|---|---|---|

Common mistakes
- Assuming the old role name still applies People can be given Facebook access or task access to help manage a Page. Why it happens: People look for the old labels in the new interface.Already happened: If access looks wrong, audit who has access to your Page. Recover Admin Access to a Facebook Page
- Giving task access expecting full management People with task access can't switch into the Page or manage it on Facebook. Why it happens: You expect task access to cover full management.
- Not keeping someone with full control A Page needs at least one person with full control to remain active. Why it happens: You remove the last full-control person unnoticed.
If this changes who is in control
You notice the people with Facebook access or task access no longer match who should be managing the Page. Audit who has access to your Page to check the current picture against who should be there.
