Why your Instagram must be a professional account to connect

Can’t link Instagram to your Page? Personal accounts can’t connect. Here’s how to switch to a free Business or Creator account, then make the link.

Instagram only lets professional accounts — Business or Creator — connect to a Facebook Page and appear in Meta Business Suite. A personal Instagram account simply won’t link. The switch to professional is free, takes a minute, and is reversible, so it’s usually the quickest fix when connection fails.

If your situation is actually …

Switch Instagram to a professional account

  1. Open Instagram settings

In the Instagram app, open your profile, then Settings.

    Where: Instagram app → Settings

  2. Switch to a professional account

Find the option to switch to a professional account and choose Business or Creator. Creator suits public figures and creators; Business suits brands and shops.

Confirm: Your account type shows as Business or Creator.

  3. Return to the Page connection

Once professional, go back to Meta Business Suite or your Page settings and connect the Instagram account.

Where: Meta Business Suite → Settings → Instagram accounts

If this fails: Instagram won’t connect to your Page

Access issues are easier to prevent when roles, owners, and responsibilities are recorded clearly

Most access problems trace back to the same gap — no clear record of who has access, what role they hold, and what should happen when that changes. Delvia helps you keep that record so problems are visible before they become incidents.

Delvia is free on iPhone and Android. Keep a clear record of who has access to your accounts — and what to do when that changes — wherever you are.
