Recovery

Recover a Self-Deleted or Disabled Discord Account

Disabled accounts reverse with a login; deleted accounts have a 15-day window and then none at all.

Is this your situation?

You disabled or deleted your own Discord account and want it back. You know which of the two you did, and time has passed since then.

Do this first

Do not create a new account. A disabled account restores by selecting Restore Account, which makes it active again. Once the 15-day pending deletion period has passed, the account has been deleted from the system and cannot be restored.

Which situation is yours?

  • Disabled account, want it back: log in and follow the prompt.
  • Deleted account, inside 15 days: select Restore Account.
  • Deleted account, past 15 days: deletion is already final.
  • Forgot the password: reset it before restoring.
  • Account banned or actioned on, now deleted: restoration is not available.
  • Deletion started through Support: follow up with Support to cancel it.

How Discord handles this

  • Disabling an account puts it on hold instead of permanently deleting it.
  • Once the 15-day pending deletion period ends, the account is deleted from Discord's system and this is irreversible.
  • Logging into a Discord account pending deletion notifies the user that the account is pending deletion.
  • An account deleted because it was banned, disabled, or actioned on cannot be restored.
  • If the account was deleted through Support, cancelling that deletion also requires contacting Support.

Which recovery path is yours?

  1. Did you disable the account, not delete it? A user restores a disabled account by selecting Restore Account, which makes the account active again.
  2. Did you delete the account and it has been under 15 days? To stop the deletion of a Discord account, the user selects Restore Account.
  3. Has it been more than 15 days since deletion? Once the 15-day pending deletion period has passed, the account has been deleted from the system and cannot be restored.
  4. Can you not remember the password for the account? If a user cannot remember the password for an account they initiated for deletion, they must reset the account's password to restore it.
  5. Was the account deleted because of a ban or other action by Discord? A user whose account was deleted due to being banned, disabled, or actioned on may submit an appeal to Discord's Trust & Safety team.

What not to do

  • Waiting past the 15-day window Once the 15-day pending deletion period has passed, the account has been deleted and cannot be restored. Why it happens: You lose track of how many days have passed since confirming deletion.
  • Assuming Support can extend the window Discord's Support Team is unable to speed up the 15-day account deletion process. Why it happens: You expect a request to Support to buy more time.
  • Expecting restoration after a ban-related deletion An account deleted because it was banned, disabled, or actioned on by Discord cannot be restored. Why it happens: You assume every deletion follows the same restore process.Already happened: Submit an appeal to Discord's Trust & Safety team.

What to have ready

  • Check how much time has passed The account deletion process has 15 days to be completed. Count days since confirming deletion.
  • Have your login email ready Check you still have access to that address. Confirm you can access that email.
  • Have your password ready Check whether you still remember it. Try logging in with it first.
  • Reset the password if forgotten Reset the password to restore the account. Use the password reset flow first.
  • Check whether the account was banned A deleted account cannot be restored if banned or actioned on. Check for a ban notice.

Stop this happening again

Once a Discord account is deleted, the deletion is irreversible. Review who else depends on this account's servers before taking either action, and see why a server needs a backup owner.

Keeping track of who has access

Losing sight of which account owns which server is preventable with the right visibility in place. Delvia keeps a record of who holds ownership and access across your servers, so a disable or delete decision never becomes a surprise. That record turns a recovery scramble into a known, checked situation.
