How to Reset a Forgotten TikTok Password

Forgot your TikTok password? Here is how to reset it by email or phone — and what to do if neither one reaches you anymore.

A forgotten password is the easiest TikTok lockout to fix — as long as you still control the email or phone on the account. TikTok sends a code to one of them, you set a new password, and you are back in. The only real complication is when neither contact reaches you anymore; that turns a two-minute reset into a much harder recovery, so it is worth confirming your contacts work before you start.

If your situation is actually …

Resetting your password

  1. Open the login screen and choose "Forgot password"

On the TikTok login page, enter your account and select the "Forgot password" option to start the reset.

    Where: tiktok.com/login → Forgot password

  2. Pick a contact to receive the code

Choose the email or phone number on the account. TikTok sends a verification code to whichever you select.

  3. Enter the code TikTok sends

Open your email or messages, retrieve the code, and enter it. If it does not arrive, check spam and confirm the contact is correct before requesting another.

Confirm: The code is accepted and TikTok prompts you to set a new password.

  4. Set a new, unique password

Choose a strong password you do not use anywhere else, then sign in with it to confirm you are back in.

Confirm: You sign in successfully with the new password.

If the reset code never arrives

Stage 1 · Stabilize

Confirm the contact works

  1. Check spam and junk folders, and make sure the email or number you chose is the one actually on the account.
A surprising share of "missing code" cases are a typo or the wrong contact.
Stage 2 · Diagnose

Try the other contact

  1. If the email did not work, try the phone, or vice versa.
Either contact can carry the reset code, so one may work when the other does not.
Stage 3 · Reclaim

Escalate if neither reaches you

  1. If no code arrives on either contact, move to the no-contacts recovery route via TikTok’s report form.
Self-service cannot help once nothing can receive the code.
    Where: tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback
Stage 4 · Harden

Keep your contacts current

  1. Once back in, update your email and phone to ones you control and add two-factor authentication.
Current contacts keep the easy reset available next time.
Where: TikTok app → Settings and privacy → Security & permissions
If this flow does not restore access: Recover without email or phone

Frequently asked questions

Usually it is the wrong contact, a typo, or the code sitting in spam. Confirm the email or number is the one on the account, check spam, and try the other contact. If neither delivers, you are into the harder no-contacts route.

Access issues are easier to prevent when roles, owners, and responsibilities are recorded clearly

Most access problems trace back to the same gap — no clear record of who has access, what role they hold, and what should happen when that changes. Delvia helps you keep that record so problems are visible before they become incidents.

Delvia is free on iPhone and Android. Keep a clear record of who has access to your accounts — and what to do when that changes — wherever you are.
