How to Switch to a TikTok Business Account
Switch from a General TikTok Account to a Verified Business Account from the app's account settings.
Is this your situation?
You run a General TikTok Account and want the tools built for businesses. You want to switch account type without losing what the account already has.
The short answer
A General TikTok Account can be changed to a Verified Business Account, or back, from the account settings. TikTok advises against switching back and forth, because verification will not be saved.
Before you start
- Confirm you have at least one public post. A General TikTok Account must have one public post to access analytics.Verify: Check your profile for at least one public video.
- Know this is a separate step from verification. Verifying a business account is a separate process from receiving a verified badge.Verify: Check whether you also plan to apply for business verification.
- Decide if you will switch back later. TikTok advises against switching back and forth.Verify: Check that you intend to stay on this account type.
How TikTok handles this
- A General TikTok Account can be changed to a Verified Business Account, or vice versa, from the account settings.
- Verified Business Accounts don't have access to the general music library, because those songs are restricted to personal entertainment use only.
- TikTok may require account verification to maintain access to Verified Business Account features and tools.
- If a business is not verified, TikTok may automatically convert the account into a General TikTok Account, restricting access to Verified Business Account features.
Step by step

- Submit and wait for confirmation. Once verified, you receive an in-app notification and a confirmation email to the linked address.Confirm: Check your inbox and the linked email for the confirmation.
- Avoid switching back casually. TikTok advises against switching back and forth, since verification won't be saved.Confirm: Check that you are ready to commit to this account type.
- Know what the account type unlocks. A Verified Business Account is the highest entitlement level, granted after successful business verification.Confirm: Check the account settings for your current entitlement level.
- Know what stays unverified. Some Verified Business Account features are not available depending on the account's market or other account factors.Confirm: Check which features show as available for your region.
