Recover LinkedIn Page Admin Access After an Ownership Change

The previous owner's profile still sits between you and the Page you now own.

Is this your situation?

You bought a business and the LinkedIn Page that represents it has no admin you can reach. You need to get admin access assigned to your own profile instead.

Do this first

You want the existing Page, not a new one. Follow the Page before requesting access. Requesting admin access to the existing Page is required to manage it and to be eligible to contact support about it.

Which situation is yours?

  • No admin responds to your request
  • Page may be a Listing Page with a Claim this page option visible at the top
  • You already follow the Page and listed your current position with the organization
  • You have not verified your workplace using your current company email address yet
  • Request sits unanswered and existing admins have not accepted it
  • Someone else already claimed the page and you can request admin access from them
  • Current super admins have not yet reviewed and approved your pending request

How LinkedIn handles this

  • Requesting admin access to a Page is required to manage the page and to be eligible to contact support about the page.
  • Before requesting admin access, a member must list their current position with the organization on their profile in the Experience section.
  • Before requesting admin access, a member must verify their workplace using their current company email address.
  • Before requesting admin access, a member must follow the Page they are requesting admin access to.
  • If the Page is actively managed, current super admins must review and approve a request before the requester gains access.

Which recovery path is yours?

  1. Does the organization have a Page already, or only an auto-created one? If the member is eligible, the Claim this page option appears at the top of the Listing Page.
  2. Is the Page already claimed by someone else? If another eligible member has already claimed the Listing Page, you can request admin access instead.
  3. Have you completed the prerequisites: Experience listed, email verified, Page followed? On desktop, click the More button and select Request admin access from the dropdown.
  4. Did days pass with no response to your request? Add the Page as your current employer and verify your work email if available, then contact LinkedIn support about the unanswered request.
  5. Is the Page actively managed by existing admins? If the Page is actively managed, current super admins must review and approve your request before you gain access.

What not to do

  • Requesting before updating your Experience Before requesting admin access, list your current position with the organization in the Experience section. Why it happens: The prerequisite step is skipped in the rush to request access.
  • Expecting support to name the current admins LinkedIn customer support cannot provide admin information to members or employees of the Page. Why it happens: The previous owner's identity feels like something support should reveal.Already happened: You contacted support hoping for a name and were told to request access instead. See support's limits on admin disclosure.
  • Assuming silence means denial If you do not receive a notification about gaining admin access, the existing admins have not accepted the request. Why it happens: No visible status update reads as a rejection rather than a pause.

What to have ready

  • Current position listed Your Experience section must show this organization. Check your profile's Experience section.
  • Workplace verified Use your current company email address. Check for a confirmation after submitting.
  • Page followed You must follow the Page you're requesting. Check that the Follow button shows following.
  • Notifications tab watched Confirmation arrives there if assigned admin access. Check the Notifications tab for an update.
  • Is the Page a Listing Page A Claim this page option may appear if eligible. Check the top banner for a claim option.
  • Checkbox of authorization Verify you're authorized to become a Page admin. Check the request form for this checkbox.

Stop this happening again

You hold admin access now, and want the next change to go smoothly. Read why your Page needs more than one admin before the next ownership change.

Keeping track of who has access

You want the next ownership change to be a handover, not a scramble. Delvia keeps a record of who holds admin roles on the pages a business depends on. That record turns a preventable gap into a transfer instead of a recovery.
