How to Recover Conversations and Leads After Switching LinkedIn Seats
Reassigning a Recruiter seat moves data to the new user and removes it from the old one.
Is this your situation?
You switched LinkedIn Recruiter seats, and reassigning the license transferred your projects, jobs, InMails and saved searches to the new seat. You want to know whether that work can come back, and what it takes to move it to the right seat.
The short answer
Reassigning a license transfers all licenses, permissions, and associated data, such as projects, jobs, InMails, and saved searches, from the source user to another user. The original user loses access to the transferred data after a license reassignment, unless the seat is reassigned back to them.
Before you start
- Confirm who holds the seat now Reassigning a license transfers all licenses, permissions, and data to another user.Verify: Check the User & license management tab for the current holder.
- Check the original user's status Licenses can only be reassigned to users with an Active status.Verify: Look up whether the user shows as Active, Parked, or Invited.
- Confirm an available license exists To perform a seat reassignment, the admin must have an available license.Verify: Check available license count in Admin Center.
How LinkedIn handles this
- Reassigning a license transfers all licenses, permissions, and associated data, such as projects, jobs, InMails, and saved searches, from the source user to another user.
- The original user loses access to the transferred data after a license reassignment, unless the seat is reassigned back to them.
- A license reassignment can be reversed by adding the original user back to the dashboard and reassigning the license to them.
- It may take up to five hours for the transfer of work to be completed after a license reassignment.

- Open Admin Center Move the cursor over the profile picture at the top of the Recruiter homepage and select Manage users in Admin Center from the dropdown.Confirm: Check that the User & license management tab is open.

- Confirm the reassignment Clicking Confirm completes the seat reassignment.Confirm: The recipient can use the reassigned license once reassigned.
- Wait for the transfer to finish It may take up to five hours for the transfer of work to be completed after a license reassignment.Confirm: During the transition period, it may appear as if both users have access to the resources.
- Handle an error if it appears If the error 'There was an error in reassigning the license' appears, check the Activity log tab for pending reassignments.Confirm: Check the Activity log tab for pending reassignment entries. If this fails: Cancel the pending action next to it on the user profile and try again.
Common mistakes
- Treating reassignment as something to redo without a plan To reverse a reassignment, the admin adds the original user back to the dashboard and reassigns the license to them. Why it happens: You assume you can undo the switch later if the wrong person was picked.Already happened: If this happened, see User & license management.
- Assuming the original user keeps access The original user loses access to transferred data after a reassignment, unless the seat is reassigned back to them. Why it happens: You expect to still see the old conversations after handing off the seat.
- Reassigning to a Parked or Invited user Users whose status is Parked or Invited cannot have licenses reassigned to them. Why it happens: You pick a name from the list without checking their current status.

Keeping track of who has access
After you have done this, the app is where you track who holds each seat and what moved with it. Delvia keeps that record so the next seat switch is a decision, not a discovery.
