How to Add a Backup Admin on LinkedIn

Add a backup Product Settings and Account Center Admin before your only admin leaves.

Is this your situation?

Your Recruiter contract depends on a single admin, and you want a backup in place before that person leaves. You want to assign a second person the permission to manage licenses and roles.

The short answer

Assigning the Product Settings and Account Center Admin permission to a back-up admin allows an additional user to manage the contract if the primary admin departs. Do this from Manage users in Admin Center, reached from your Recruiter homepage profile picture.

Before you start

  • Confirm your own permission type Only users with Product Settings and Account Center Admin permission type can manage licenses, roles, and permissions.Verify: Check your role in Admin Center.
  • Pick the backup user Choose a current or new user to receive the permission.Verify: Check they already have, or can receive, a Recruiter license.
  • Decide preset or custom role The permission is included automatically in the Recruiter Admin and Dashboard Manager Admin preset roles.Verify: Check which preset role fits the backup's needs.

Common mistakes

  • You rely on a single admin for the contract Assigning an additional Product Settings and Account Center Admin allows that user to manage the contract if the original admin departs the company or goes on extended leave. Why it happens: Teams set up Recruiter with one admin and never add a second.
  • Assigning the wrong permission type Only users with Product Settings and Account Center Admin permission type can manage licenses, roles, and permissions. Why it happens: A preset role without this permission looks similar but lacks the needed control.
  • No separate custom role check The permission type can also be applied within a custom role. Why it happens: Admins assume only preset roles carry this permission and skip custom roles.Already happened: If the only admin has already left, see recover a LinkedIn account held by a former employee or agency.
