Troubleshooting
Discord Integration Role Stuck or Won't Delete
An auto-created integration role will not assign, delete, or stay where you expect.
Is this your situation?
You expect the integration role to behave like one you created yourself. It won't assign, delete, or respond the way a regular server role does.
The short answer
Members cannot be manually assigned to or deleted from the auto-created YouTube Member role because it is automatically managed by the YouTube integration. Because the Twitch subscriber role is automatically managed by the Twitch integration, a server owner cannot manually assign members to it. The auto-created YouTube Member roles can be renamed directly in Discord.
What you see, and why
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
| You cannot add or remove a member from the role yourself. | The role is automatically managed by the integration, so members cannot be manually assigned to or deleted from it. |
| You see the same behavior on a Twitch subscriber role. | The Twitch subscriber role is automatically managed by the Twitch integration, so a server owner cannot manually assign members to it. |
| A member's membership or subscription no longer appears. | If a gifted or joined membership does not show, try removing the YouTube channel under Connections and reconnecting it. |
Check these first
- Check whether the role came from an integration. A new role named YouTube Member is auto-created by the integration.Verify: Look in Server Settings > Roles for a role you did not create.
- Check the member's connection status. A gifted or joined membership that does not show under connections may need reconnecting.Verify: Ask the member to open User Settings > Connections.
- Check whether a manual sync has been run. A manual sync can be run even though members should sync automatically.Verify: Open Integrations under Server Settings and look for a Sync button.
How Discord handles this
- The YouTube Member role is automatically created for anyone who joins through the YouTube integration.
- Because the Twitch subscriber role is automatically managed by the Twitch integration, a server owner cannot manually assign members to it.
- The auto-created YouTube Member roles can be renamed directly in Discord.
- A server owner can change the grace period controlling what happens to a user once their membership is no longer active.
Which path applies to you?
- Is the stuck role named YouTube Member or a YouTube membership tier? Try removing and reconnecting the YouTube channel under User Settings > Connections.
- Did reconnecting the YouTube channel fail to restore the role? Ask the creator or a moderator to run a manual sync in Integrations under Server Settings.
- Is the stuck role a Twitch subscriber role? Try removing and reconnecting the Twitch account under User Settings > Connections.
- Did reconnecting the Twitch account fail to restore the role? Ask the streamer or a moderator to run a manual sync in Integrations under Server Settings.
Step by step: finding the cause
- Identify the role's origin. Open Server Settings > Roles and look for a role you did not create, such as YouTube Member.Confirm: Check the Roles list for a role labeled with YouTube Member or a Twitch subscriber tier.
- Confirm it is automatically managed. Members cannot be manually assigned to or deleted from this role because the integration manages it.Confirm: Check whether the Manage Members option for the role is unavailable for manual edits.
- Check the affected member's connection. Ask the member to open User Settings > Connections and look for the YouTube or Twitch tile.Confirm: Check whether the connection tile shows as connected.
- Remove and reconnect the connection if the role did not appear. If a gifted or joined membership does not show, remove the YouTube channel under Connections and reconnect it.Confirm: Check whether the server now appears under the member's Connections.
- Ask for a manual sync if the role still does not appear. Ask the YouTuber or a moderator to run a manual sync in Integrations under Server Settings.Confirm: Check the member's role list after the sync completes.
- Ask for a Twitch manual sync if needed. Ask the streamer or a moderator to run a manual sync by heading into Integrations in Server Settings.Confirm: Check the member's role list after the manual sync.
