How to Complete Twitch Affiliate Onboarding When Status Doesn't Update
Onboarding steps can look complete while Affiliate status still has not switched on.
Is this your situation?
You completed the three Affiliate onboarding steps but your account still does not show full Affiliate status. You want to know what is still missing and when it should resolve.
The short answer
All three onboarding steps must be fully completed before monetizing the channel, and each item in Step 3 must show a completed status first. Tax forms typically take 24-48 hours to validate, up to 72 hours in some cases.
Before you start
- Confirm Step 1 shows a green checkmark A checkmark appears next to Step 1 once 2FA is enabled.Verify: Look for the green checkmark next to Step 1.
- Check the tax interview status A problem updates the status to Incomplete, Pending, or Failed.Verify: Check the status shown next to the tax interview.
- Check all Step 3 items are completed All items in Step 3 must show a completed status before onboarding is finished.Verify: Check each Step 3 item for a completed status.
How Twitch handles this
- Affiliate onboarding involves three steps: Enable Two-Factor Authentication, Complete Your Account Detail, and Start Earning Revenue.
- Tax forms typically take 24-48 hours to validate, and in some cases up to 72 hours.
- If tax forms are still processing after 72 hours, the wait for validation can be 2-3 weeks.
- Once all three onboarding steps are completed, a "Welcome to the Affiliate fam" confirmation appears.
Step by step
- Open onboarding Affiliate onboarding can be accessed directly from the Creator Dashboard at any time.Confirm: Check that the three onboarding steps are listed.
- Check Step 1 If Two-Factor Authentication is already enabled on the account, Step 1 shows as complete.Confirm: A green checkmark appears next to Step 1 once Two-Factor Authentication is enabled.
- Check Step 2 fields Step 2 requires providing personal information and agreeing to the Twitch Monetized Streamer Agreement.Confirm: Step 2 shows complete with a green checkmark once all fields are filled and the agreement is accepted.
- Match legal name to tax documents The Legal Full Name field must match the name on the user's tax documents.Confirm: Check the entered name against the tax document name.
- Check for autofill issues If browser autofill populated the fields, the Continue button may not appear.Confirm: Check whether the Continue button is visible. If this fails: Manually edit at least one character in any field to activate the button.
- Complete tax interviews Step 3 of onboarding includes Tax Interviews and Payout Method.Confirm: A validation screen confirms the information has been received.
- Wait for tax validation Tax forms typically take 24-48 hours to validate.Confirm: Check the tax interview status in the Creator Dashboard.
- Select payout method After completing tax interviews, click Select next to Payout Method and confirm your password if asked.Confirm: Check that a payout method appears as selected.
- Confirm completion Once all three onboarding steps are completed, a confirmation is shown.Confirm: A "Welcome to the Affiliate fam" confirmation is shown.
Before you change who is in control
- Mismatched details across steps Mismatches between the name, address, and country entered in Step 2 and the tax interview and payout setup in Step 3 are the most common cause of onboarding issues. Why it happens: Details are entered once and expected to carry through later steps.Already happened: If control has already changed hands — Recover a Hacked Twitch Account With Changed Payout Details
- Altered legal name Use your legal name exactly as it appears on your tax documents, not altered to match the form. Why it happens: A name is changed to fit form formatting.
- Zip code field blocking payout setup Zip code issues usually occur because the payout method needs a zip or postal code not provided earlier. Why it happens: An earlier field was left blank.Already happened: If monetization access is at risk, see removed user still has access.
