Before you change who is in control

  • Assuming emote prefixes update on their own The prefix for your emotes does not update automatically after a username change. Why it happens: You expect the new name to carry over everywhere at once.Already happened: If control has already changed hands — Recover a Twitch Username After a Forced Change
  • Expecting third-party apps to recognize the new name Some third-party apps may not recognize an account anymore once you change your name. Why it happens: You assume the app follows your account rather than the old name.Already happened: If a connected app loses access, see Connected App Still Has Access to Your Twitch Account.
  • Expecting to reclaim the old name soon For non-Partnered accounts, Twitch cannot facilitate changing a username back after it has been changed. Why it happens: Abandoned usernames take at least 180 days before they are available again.

Keeping track of who has access

After you have done this, the app is where you track who has access to your channel. Delvia keeps that record current as your username and connections change.
