How Instagram access works through Meta Business Suite
For real team access, an Instagram professional account connects to a Facebook Page and Business Portfolio — then permissions flow through Meta Business Suite. Here is how the whole chain works.
Meta Business Suite is where Instagram team access actually happens. The chain is specific: a professional Instagram account connects to a Facebook Page, the Page lives in a Meta Business Portfolio, and from there you add people to the portfolio and assign them task-based permissions on the Instagram account. Every link in that chain has to be in place — which is why so many "I can't share access" problems trace back to a missing connection somewhere along it.
The access chain, link by link
Professional account: the account must be a Creator or Business account. A personal account cannot enter this system at all.
Connected Facebook Page: the Instagram account connects to a Facebook Page, which is the carrier for role-based access. An account links to one Page at a time.
Business Portfolio: the Page sits inside a Meta Business Portfolio, which is where people, partners, and assets are managed. An account links to one portfolio at a time.
Assignment in Business Suite: you add people to the portfolio, then assign them task-based access on the Instagram asset — content, messages, ads, or insights. Each person uses their own login. The pure portfolio mechanics are the same ones the Facebook hub covers in depth.
What you can assign in Business Suite

Access issues are easier to prevent when roles, owners, and responsibilities are recorded clearly
Most access problems trace back to the same gap — no clear record of who has access, what role they hold, and what should happen when that changes. Delvia helps you keep that record so problems are visible before they become incidents.
