What does Meta business verification unlock?
Business verification gates certain ad features, higher limits, the WhatsApp Business API, and some developer access — but not standard advertising. Here is what it actually affects.
It is easy to assume business verification is a gate in front of everything, because Meta prompts for it so often. It is not. Verification unlocks a specific set of capabilities — and standard advertising is not one of them. Knowing what it does and does not gate helps you decide whether to do it now or leave it until a feature you need requires it.

What business verification typically unlocks
Certain advanced advertising features and access to some restricted ad categories or tools can require a verified business. Day-to-day campaign creation generally does not.
Higher limits — for example more headroom on ad accounts or other resources tied to your portfolio — are often released once a business is verified.
The WhatsApp Business Platform (the WhatsApp Business API, as opposed to the free consumer app) requires a verified business before you can use it at scale.
Some developer and app capabilities — including access to certain permissions and parts of Meta’s app review — depend on having a verified business behind the app.
What it does NOT gate
Standard advertising. You can create and run ordinary ad campaigns without business verification. Treating verification as a prerequisite for launching ads is the most common misunderstanding.
Personal identity verification. Confirming who you are as an individual is a separate process with its own requirements — it is not the same as verifying the organisation.
Domain control. Proving you own a website is done through domain verification, which is independent of business verification.

Access issues are easier to prevent when roles, owners, and responsibilities are recorded clearly
Most access problems trace back to the same gap — no clear record of who has access, what role they hold, and what should happen when that changes. Delvia helps you keep that record so problems are visible before they become incidents.
